Therapy often addresses mental health concerns, to include symptom reduction, harmful patterns of behavior, coping skills, addiction, trauma, depression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, and/or loss. Two common key components of those who would benefit from therapy, are that symptoms are impacting daily functioning and/or a focus on your past experiences would likely bring the most benefit to symptom reduction and positive growth in your life.
Whereas with Coaching, there is more of a focus on improving current life circumstances, mindset and perspective evaluations, meeting specific goals, support with making specific life choices, planning after loss, focus on patterns preventing forward movement, general wellness, career evaluation, and overall satisfaction with life/ professional/ relational/ familial/ health etc. The desired goal and focus of the sessions are determined by the client and current and forward focus is the core of this work.
